Political Commentary by Samuel Raitano Fact number 1: When talking about UBS loan, no one in this country can explain why James Marape signed the instruments that Don Polye refused to sign. Only thing Marape can say for now is, "let the Commission of Inquiry complete its findings". I can confidently tell Papua New Guineans that Marape knew all along that people like Peter Botten, former Oil Search boss retired already and left the country so will not be turning up for the Inquiry. Yet he went ahead to fund the COI to fool Papua New Guineans that he is doing something to expose corruption. COI has come to a stand still. No one is implicated as yet. Not even former PM. You and I pay taxes in millions to fund this wild goose chase.

By Bonny Kaiyo A. The compelling conversation, or narrative: The oldest vehicle of political development, political culture, and the king pin of the nation's identity politics when it mattered most, was clearly Pangu Pati. It therefore claims credit or is credited for leading PNG to independence in 1975. Since 2019, PNG politics has taxed, dented, and punctuated Pangu Pati's best options to lead from where PNC left off. On the weekend, as the country ended prayers to the God of Israel, Pangu Pati consolidated its platform to return to office after the 2022 NGE. The National Convention of Pangu Pati incurred ceremony, with photo sessions, and the ruling party exploited its chances in which it asked, or impressed, on critics to look again. According to Prime Minister James Marape, there was a clear track record which speaks for itself. Read, here: https://www.facebook.com/349747055559633/posts/1069231503611181/ Prime Minister James Marape is party leader after the events post - May 30, 2019 which propelled him to the highest office in the land said: 'This party has had a purposeful approach to nation-building. As we have delivered PNG its Political Independence, we must now deliver its Economic Independence too so our work as “the party that knows the way will be complete'. He referred to the need to consolidate in order to deliver for the nation like it did in 1975 when Pangu Pati founded Papua New Guinea. And, he was confident that Pangu Pati was on the right track because it '...delivers every time; ours is the Party that "knows the Way". 'Pangu Save Long Rot!' The Papua New Guinea Office of the Electoral Boundaries Commission (EBC) has announced the proposal of 22 new electorates in 18 provinces across the country.
The proposed new electorates are based on the submissions obtained during the Public Consultations to the provinces carried out by EBC from the 4th-23rd of July 2021. Acting Commissioner for the Electoral Commission and Chairman of the Electoral Boundaries Commission, Simon Sinai said informing Papua New Guineans of the ‘Public Objections and Views of Proposed New Open Electorates’ is the second phase of the review for the 2021 review of electoral boundaries. By Brian Folock Amidst the current political developments in Southern Highlands Province, some facebook users throwing names of leaders including the Member for Ialibu Pangia and the former Prime Minister Peter O'Neil. One poster briefly put or asked the name of the Prime Minister at the time of now the ousted Governor William Powi's 'declaration' invoking that law on Special Circumstances. To put on record, the former PM, when approached at Alotau Camp in 2017 by William Powi team to endorse the short cut declaration, the reputable former PM said these as I quote: "SHP is our province and whoever gets elected will be part of our team. I should not agree with any of such declaration. We should go back and complete the counting. Let the processes of election determine a winner. I do not want problems in SHP". These are his exact words. His hands are clean. He did not approve such declaration, bypassing election laws. People’s Party a coalition partner in the current government is not supporting the Private Members Bill initiated by Gumine MP to replace Limited Preferential Voting (LPV) System or Model of Voting. The party in a meeting today unanimously resolved to go against the move by the government to re-introduce the First Past the Post (FPTP) voting system in the 2022 National General Election (NGE). The party’s parliamentary leader and Governor of Jiwaka Province, the Hon. Dr. William Tongamp, Party Patron & Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources & Member for Wabag Open Hon. Dr. Lino Tom and Community Development Minister & Member for Jimi Open, Hon. Wake Goi, took a strong stand not to support the move. The elected leaders with the support of the party national executives and supporters want the LPV system to remain, where people are given an opportunity to vote a leader of their choice. We, as a People’s Party is strongly opposing the National Government’s proposal for a bill to do way with the Limited Preferential Voting system in the coming national general elections and reverting to the First Past the Post voting system, said Dr. Tongamp. By David Levi Behind this charming and unfailing gracious persona lies a shrewd and an unflinching calculative mind. A mind of a brilliant and accomplished political tactician the country has ever seen. Peter Parre O’Neill is the maker and breaker of political parties, a mover and a shaker of political wills and even those whims of titanium craftily engineered by the seasoned and well-placed hands that many people thought wouldn’t stand the test of the boy from Ialibu/political. His political ingenuity is legendary as his business escapades. Born as Paire in Melipini, Muamune council ward to Brian O'Neill, an Australian-born magistrate of partial Irish descent and local mother Awambo Yari, from Pangia Southern Highlands Province. In Paire's veins runs Kamari- the blood of those destined for higher calling. O'Neill was educated at the Pangia Primary School, Ialibu High School and Goroka High School. After leaving high school he received a Bachelor of Accountancy and Commerce from the University of Papua New Guinea, in 1986. By Albertis_Photography Peter O'Neill has built a fundamental foundation of PNG's economic growth - 'INFRASTRUCTURE'. Fools can refute that! He was on track to build more but was short lived. Advanced infrastructure is crucial to economic growth. Infrastructure could mean tourism infrastructure; road and bridge systems; agricultural infrastructure etc... a nation's economy doesn't grow in bushes. Many talked against the development of sporting facilities like the stadiums without considering the cash injections that would be generated by games. He borrowed to build those crucial infrastructure. Some said were at inflated costs and project funds commissioned out by project proponents which are but yet to be proven. Whilst setting up the necessary infrastructure, he invested heavily on agriculture, tourism and particularly SME's - the cornerstones of economic growth. Without seeing the outcome of these visionary work, we nagged him. He knew very well that he was on track yet we sunned him down led by some ill-conceived Facebook warriors who can't even show their capabilities given the caps they are wearing now. He invested very heavily in law and order as well to balance the equation. Law and order was minimal unlike today. Peoples First Party has launched its membership drive at the Gateway Hotel tonight ( 25th June 2021). Party leader and Member for Yangoru Saussia Hon Richard Maru has taken the honor to lead PFP into 2022 election from former leader and patron Luther Wenge. PFP stands for the people and will deliver what's belong to the people of this great nation rightfully to them. Papua New Guinea is abundantly blessed with natural resources and diversity of people with unique identity. Yet majority of her people face hardships and live in poverty. Political View by Ink News It is a public knowledge that there are many senior politicians who will be vying for the Prime Minister post after the 2022 National General Election. However, the Governor General will only invite a party that has majority of its MPs winning right across the country to form the next government. Therefore, MPs who are most likely to retain their seat and comeback to the form the next govt are listed below. Interestingly the are all party leaders who have the political will and financially backing to form the next govt. You have seen that the post has left the NA out because currently there have been a power tussle between party members on who could be the next party leader to lead them into 2022 elections. Also the Opposition leader has been left our because he has less chances of forming the next govt given that he had nil interest in the PM seat despite championing various VoNC during this term of Parliament. By: David Lepi We have seen many of Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape's impromptu from shedding crocodile tears to banging on the United Nation' s door for money and we had to put up with the shame as a nation. If the PM hasn't been advised on the UN system it is financed by assessed and voluntary contributions from UN members. It operates on contributions and is not a profit making organization like the World Bank/International Monetary Fund. But he is also a man of many contradictions. Not only that he tries to copy Robert Kagame's Rwanda and instead doing the direct opposite in taking Papua New Guinea down the path of despair and destitution. |
