Television Stations in Papua New Guinea
There are five television stations in Papua New Guinea. There are :
EMTV EMTV is a commercial TV station in Papua New Guinea. It is owned by Fiji television through a subsidiary called Media Niugini Limited. EMTV commenced broadcasting within the National Capital District of Papua New Guinea in July 1987. A transmission centre was opened in Lae in April 1988 with Mt Hagen, Goroka, Arawa and Rabaul following in rapid succession. A milestone was reached in June 1989 when EMTV commenced being received live in Lae, Mt Hagen and Goroka. Twenty years later EMTV is now received in real time via satellite in 38 centres throughout Papua New Guinea. Based on 2000 Census information the EMTV footprint is approximately 45% of PNG's total population of approximately 6 million people. Kundu 2 Kundu 2 TV station is owned by the Government of Papua New Guinea. Kundu 2 was established by Somare Government in 2007. The station is located in Port Moresby. The station basically run programs on sports, news, entainment, education and health. TVWan TVWAN is Papua New Guinea's first digital Free-to-View TV channel, with brighter pictures, bigger sound and loads of local content. This TV Station is owned by mobile phone company Digicel. Station is located in Port Moresby. TVWan Sports This television station is also owned by Digicel. It covers all the local and international sports. It is only available to subscribers. That means if you want to view the station, you pay for it. They broadcast from Port Moresby, PNG ClickTV ClickTV is a cormercial TV station in Papua New Guinea. Like TVwan sports, this TV station is available for subscribers only. It is based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. |
