By: David Lepi We have seen many of Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape's impromptu from shedding crocodile tears to banging on the United Nation' s door for money and we had to put up with the shame as a nation. If the PM hasn't been advised on the UN system it is financed by assessed and voluntary contributions from UN members. It operates on contributions and is not a profit making organization like the World Bank/International Monetary Fund. But he is also a man of many contradictions. Not only that he tries to copy Robert Kagame's Rwanda and instead doing the direct opposite in taking Papua New Guinea down the path of despair and destitution. And when taken to task about his failures he would shamelessly blame others or quickly looks for excuses.
Lately the skeleton that jumped out of his closet is what we can term as a lying hypocrite. It is from a newspaper article and to be specific its dated 6 June 2014, The National newspaper. The story is that when a John Napu lawyer representing sacked Treasurer Don Polye suggested that the best option was for the new Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch, PM Peter O'Neill and Treasury Secretary Dairi Vele to cancel the UBS loan. Marape who now claims in the Commission of Inquiry that he never actively participated in the UBS loan deal was at that time the Finance Minister was on the contrary as the paper puts it was very vocal and protective of the said loan. The paper in part reads, "We have not made any mistake or any error in our investment, it is only idiotic that people like John Napu who lacks commercial experience and knowledge and continue misleading our people on what the real benefits of these projects include.” – one of our most important projects to the country and delivering huge benefits to the people of PNG and Government.” Find attached is the copy of the full newspaper article. PM James Marape has been lying all along. He has lied to the CoI and the country. But then why institute an expensive CoI on the expense of the poor taxpayers? Simply because since he couldn't produce anything that could possibly incriminate and remove his political bogeyman PM Peter O'Neill from the picture he thinks the CoI will draw some water. The irony is that he was the finance minister and could have walked off with incriminating evidence of all the corrupt allegations against O’Neill he was parroting. Sadly, Papua New Guinea has to pay dearly for Marape's political expedience. Next : Is The PNG Electoral Commission Free From Bias And Corruption?
