Political Commentary by Samuel Raitano Fact number 1: When talking about UBS loan, no one in this country can explain why James Marape signed the instruments that Don Polye refused to sign. Only thing Marape can say for now is, "let the Commission of Inquiry complete its findings". I can confidently tell Papua New Guineans that Marape knew all along that people like Peter Botten, former Oil Search boss retired already and left the country so will not be turning up for the Inquiry. Yet he went ahead to fund the COI to fool Papua New Guineans that he is doing something to expose corruption. COI has come to a stand still. No one is implicated as yet. Not even former PM. You and I pay taxes in millions to fund this wild goose chase. Fact number 2:
Current government is filled with fence sitters, opportunists, party hoppers and undecided people. Most people including Marape himself were PNC Party stalwarts. When he defected from PNC government, he was given opportunity as alternative PM by the Namah/Pruaitch led opposition in the first VONC attempt but it failed. For the second attempt, the Opposition through secret ballots chose Pruaitch. Marape never kept his word to his opposition colleagues. So who was the power hungry Judas? That answer will be given by Bryan Kramer when explaining why he did not take part in the VONC that made Marape Prime Minister. Fact number 3: Current government spending money on unnecessary stuff. While we have the Common Roll and Census update way behind schedule, the Prime Minister is talking about spending K5 million on a "stone" monument called unity pillar. That is laughable because it is akin to idolatry. Wasted millions on PNG games infrastructure in SHP which I assure Papua New Guinea as a Southern Highlander that it cannot be delivered due to slow construction of facilities on ground. Millions of kina for covid- 19 disappearing into thin air while no construction of regional hospitals as promised in 2020. Most constituents dont know the expenditure of K2 million each allocated to all MPs to address covid-19 issues in their constituencies. Fact number 4: SME funding of K200 million given to NDB and BSP is not seen to be boosting SMEs and MSMEs while monies are said to have been accessed already by some companies which do not even show signs of job creation and spin-off enterprises. Fact number 5: We still obtaining loans that now surpasses the amount obtained by previous government. Now we talking about taxing every body including informal sector in order to balance up. Something former governments never did. Fact number 6. Deliberate lies to Hela people. False promises to PNG LNG landowners in late 2019 at Hilton Hotel that they would access their benefits by 2020. ........ There are a lot of lies and deceits on top of dreams and visions that have no significance to day to day survival and struggles of the ordinary citizens and rural majority. Only the "Nogat Tingtings" will be using vulgar words in response to this post. That's their level. Understood. Keep it coming.
