Companies operating in Papua New Guinea that failed to pay their employees the current set Minimum Wage of K3.50 per hour will pay a penalty fee of K100 000. Department of Labour has been directed to immediately enforce the minimum wage rate set by the government in accordance with the law. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Labour John Rosso told Parliament today Thursday that many companies are not complying with the law and paying their employees below the set rate of K3.50 per hour. He said he had instructed the Labour Department to come up with a budget to start the enforcement in Port Moresby and in other centres.
