Ms. Rosa Walker arrived yesterday (Monday 20th March 2023), accompanied by Ms. Mackenzie Oatway and they will be in the country for 4 days to meet with the local Organizing Committee in preparation for the work towards hosting of the event. Vice Minister Sawang has been instrumental in securing Government support as the major sponsor of the WIBF 2023, to be hosted in PNG for the first time. As a leader in the PNG Government, Vice Minister Sawang has been a strong advocate for the empowerment of indigenous entrepreneurs, particularly youth and women innovation and entrepreneurship in the country and is working to ensure that the WIBF is a success.
Vice Minister Sawang and Ms. Walker both expressed their excitement for the upcoming WIBF PNG 2023 which will be held in Port Moresby in October this year. This event will be an opportunity for Indigenous entrepreneurs from all around the world to come together, network, and share their experiences and knowledge. It is expected to be the largest gathering of Indigenous business owners in the world and will provide a platform for Indigenous entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses and products. “The Marape-Rosso Government is supporting the WIBF platform to create opportunities for our indigenous entrepreneurs, particularly in the MSMEs space to connect, learn from the successes of other indigenous entrepreneurs, collaborate, and find markets for their products and services within the indigenous niche. WIBF 2023 will also provide the opportunity for PNG to market itself as a tourism and investment destination”, said Vice Minister Sawang. “Minister Maru and I are dedicated to making WIBF PNG 2023 a success and to help create more opportunities for our indigenous entrepreneurs, and thereby grow our economy,” said Vice Minister Sawang.
