Political Commentary This sad truth will not go well for team Polye but they are entitled to their opinions and commentaries. In several posts on facebook, Polye's cohorts are claiming 2017 election was rigged by PNC and Manase. Some said Manase was not voted truely by Kandep people. Polye in his court petitions generally sought a verification on errors and ommissions in 2017 counting which he was successful. Court ordered a recount in favour of his petitions. Generally, the support for Polye far and wide in PNG is big assuming Polye as a best and true mandate of the people of Kandep. However, Kandep people had truely voted out Polye in 2017 elections and mandated Manase. Kandep has seen and felt the negligence in 15 years by Polye and mandated new leader Alfred Luke Manase. One may argue based on the recounts results and courts ruling but here are the verifications of my point.
1. There was no ommisions and errors in the 2017 counting proven by the recounts results. Polye on 16600 and Manase on 15900-Same 700 votes difference. Almost the same results with decrease in few hundreds due to 5 court ordered excluded boxes. That proves Kandep equally voted Polye and Manase in their first preferences. 2. What now in the second preference votes? After eliminations in the recounts Polye lead with 22000 votes and Manase was on 21000. The difference is 1000 votes. If the 5 court order excluded boxes were counted, Manase would take lead by a big margin because Manases over 5000 second votes were in the excludes. So Kandep truely voted Manase in their second preferences. 3. Did Manase and PNC rig the 2017 Kandep Election? NO! The recounts results did not prove any rigging or hijacking. 4. Is Polye a true Mandate of Kandep People? NO! Polye won due to counts of the hijacked boxes in the recounts and the exclusion of Manases genuine second votes from the 5 boxes excluded. So Polye's win is in fact tainted with the controversial votes from boxes he hijacked in person. 5. Is Manase a true mandate of Kandep? YES! Manase won in 2017 with 24 000 votes. This win is with an inclusive of the 5 excluded boxes and with an exclusive of the 2 destroyed boxes and 5 disputed boxes. Manase collected over 8000 second votes which gave him the victory. Even if the seven set aside boxes were counted with in 2017 the win would still be Manases. 6. How did Polye win in the recounts? The unclean 3 controversal boxes of Kitali, kinduli and kanean boxes luckily gave Polye the number to win. Luckily the RO and the Police were the siding with Polye. This is not a genuine win. Polyes victory is still sustainable so long as the genuine Kandepen voters are concerned. Therefore, people genuinely mandated Manase but the court declared Polye based on the results that were tainted with the figures from the controversal boxes. Polye therefore must not think he is the truely mandated member for Kandep open, which he knows so well deep down within his heart. Manase is the true mandate of Kandep, despite the courts decision. Kandep still believes in Manase.
