In response to concerning reports of attacks on teachers within Morobe province, education adviser Keith Tangui has called on communities to show respect and appreciation for the invaluable work of educators. Tangui emphasized the need to protect teachers from any form of abuse or threats, recognizing their crucial role in bringing about positive change and development within communities. Speaking against recent incidents of attacks, where teachers have allegedly been subjected to robbery and mistreatment by youths in various communities, Tangui expressed dismay at the state of society. He reminded the public that teachers, as public servants, are integral members of the communities they serve. Their presence and dedication to fostering education and development should be met with appreciation rather than hostility. Highlighting the dedication of teachers who choose to reside and work in specific areas to contribute to the education of local children, Tangui condemned acts of theft and violence against them. He stressed that such actions undermine the mission of educators to impart knowledge and contribute to the betterment of society. Tangui issued a stern warning that if attacks on teachers persist in certain areas, schools may be forced to close, with teachers relocated to safer environments. He appealed to community members and block-holders to prioritize the safety and well-being of teachers and all public servants in their areas. The education adviser urged communities to recognize the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the future of Morobe and the entire country. Reports from reliable sources indicate that teachers serving in the Back Road areas of Lae and Bumayong have fallen victim to burglary and armed hold-ups. Tangui concluded by emphasizing the need for continuous care and respect towards teachers and public servants, emphasizing their critical contribution to the nation's development. Also read
