The Director of the Institute of National Affairs, says he doubts there'll be increased dividends from State-Owned Enterprises, because some of them are not profitable.
Paul Barker says, the Government should be demanding improved services from S-O-E's rather than burdening them to make extra money for it. He made this comment after the Government announced, it hopes to get increase revenues from S-O-E's for the 2017 National Budget. Apart from expected increased revenue from S-O-E's, the Government also expects increased taxes on alcohol, tobacco, gambling, logs and airport departure. Paul Barker says, dividends made by S-O-E's like PNG Power should be reinvested into their core businesses to provide better and reliable services to the people.
