Wests Tigers back Justin Olam continued his impressive start with the club, scoring a brace of tries to secure a narrow 17-16 victory against the Parramatta Eels in a nail-biting NRL Round 4 clash yesterday. The Papua New Guinea international maintained his hot form under coach Benji Marshall, putting in a powerful performance at both ends of the field at CommBank Stadium in Sydney. Olam, who joined the Tigers this season after a stint with the Melbourne Storm, has now scored tries in both his appearances for the club. His debut try came a fortnight ago in their convincing 32-6 win over the Cronulla Sharks. Olam's move to New South Wales appears to have revitalized the 30-year-old after a challenging injury-plagued season with the Storm last year. He was reportedly placed on the trade block by Melbourne, but the Tigers saw his potential and he's quickly become a key figure for the team. Marshall praised Olam's infectious enthusiasm and commitment, highlighting his positive influence on his teammates. "We love what Justin brings to the team," Marshall said. "He brings a lot of passion, wears his heart on his sleeve, and tries really hard. But most importantly, he brings energy. Whenever he touches the ball, the players lift around him. And whenever he defends, he puts everything into every tackle and the players lift." "That's why we signed him," Marshall continued. "His experience, his energy – he's been outstanding for us in the last two games." Olam's contribution went beyond his two tries. He also made 14 runs for a total of 138 meters, broke through the defensive line once, busted three tackles, offloaded the ball on one occasion, and even diffused a kick.
