The Basil Syndrome: When Betrayal & Notoriety become the Lighthouse in an Ocean of Politics14/5/2021
By Menom A Barok Stealth & decoys are some of the oldest yet greatest deceptive tactics that still most PNG Politicians fail to utilize, until Sam Basil re-invented these principles to the dismay & horror of both his critics & followers. Politics is a highly volatile substance of power. Its high fluidity drowns any form of ethical framework based around loyalty & mutual affirmity. The ocean of politics has more deeper trenches than any other quantified theories, which had even baffled great thinkers like Albert Einstein. Political giants from historical archives like Cleopetra, Napoleon, Churchill & Tupac have mastered the art of Politics by using deceptive tactics of NOTORIETY & BETRAYAL. In politics, if you don't know how to cheat or lie you are a sinner, not a righteous person. Lying is the act of a politically righteous person. Basil's redefinition of PNG Leadership style has been criticized as an act of an undesirable leader, but in politics, leaders become extinct when they don't adapt to the science of evolving ideologies.
Basil's rebranding of Notoriety & Betrayal actually portrayed him as a political saint, a title that cannot be easily overshadowed by the wave of criticism. His notorious watermark, the "Party Hopping", is one of the most cunning tactics used by military logicians to confuse enemies of their locations, a tactic developed by the military genius of Erwin Rommel. By now Basil has outlined his strength - he can attack from anyway, yet remaining evasive. Political notoriety is a strand of deception employed by chief strategists for manipulation & maneuver, a standard decorum for publicity. Such tactics had helped the "once unpopular figures" like Kardishan & Rhee who had used nudity to increase their public approval ratings. This also explains why characters like William Kapris had become the role model for youths for the wrong reason, or why convicts won general elections while still serving their terms. Basil had used notoriety to secure his placing on the political ladder. Basil's betrayal of coalition ties had placed his position not as a weakling, but an indispensable ally of enigmatic energy & unpredictable stamina. Saddam adopted Stalin's trait, betrayal, as his greatest ally against loyalty & friendship to climb to the echelon of power, & we just witnessed not a new trend, but an evolving definition of power dynamics in PNG Politics.
