The generations of today are becoming very complacent about politics of this nation from what they hear and read from the books that are irrelevant and cant simply comprehend from the realities of short history of our young nation. Rome was not build yesterday just as Autralia or China. They have come a long way to become what they are today. Retrospectively, let me take you to my living experiences. I was born during the colonial era and I saw the Union Jack was pulled down by setting their first leg of our great nation to the road of independence since 1975. I m as old as our great nation to give you personal analysis of my encounters in progressive developments of our country thus far. My experiences were isolated from others who can share the same in various parts of our country during the early phase of BUILDING THE FOUNDATION OF PNG. My papa was a colonial Medical Aid post orderly and Lutheran Missionary, he had the Bible in his right hand and syringe with penicilne injection on his left hand and walked the hinterlands of Lufa District to treat the sick, evangelize and pacify our people who were in the dark caves during the primitive ages. Early pacification was not as easy compared to living standards of todays generations. I can't hold my tears when I m writing this segment but let get over this irritating feeling sensualizing my emotions. I remember, my papa was real hero , he build the first church in Agibu village, first Aid Post and build the road from Wara Wamu in Mengino and continued for may years to Maiva and Herowane somewhere close to Mt Bosavi. He built the Hubagubi Heath Centre and a first school in Mane( Kokono) where I started my standard one. All of this infrastructure I mentioned were built from Bush materials , the roads and were dug by hand with sticks and bridges were build from heavy logs cut by a steel axe and not bulldozers or chainsaws or cranes. I also attended a classroom build from sago and Kunai thatched roof and leant literacy and arithmetic without books to write but wrote with pencil on erasable slate's that can comfortable fit my palm . After every subject's, the teacher will ask us to memorise and erase what we learnt, paving way for new subjects to learn. So our brain and eyes were our like photocopiers that can instantly snapshot and store in memory after every lesson. Perhaps we were taught in old simple kings English language. Nothing was fancy, life was a journey and it was a great challenge to grow amongst the local people and their children although how terribly difficult it was. Notably Iet me quote a living testimony of a police officer I witnessed too. I remember Sgt Numapo, the father of former Chief Magistrate and Judge John Numapos who at times was at the fore front policing without guns and armoured vehicles. People will come to a standstill when this man arrive to a trouble scene. He was the amaging and dangerous. Fight will suddenly stop when they see him on first sight. Life was real and we have grown overtime to become now as fathers, mothers , and have sons and daughters and bubus of today's generation whom you are all enjoying all the good privileges of modernization we and our fathers started and set the pace which then slowly transformed and saturated everywhere in this great country. Yet some of you children can't appreciate what your fathers have done to bring this nation to where it is now for you. My friends, I repeat again, Rome and China was never built yesterday, what you learn in the books of Fidel Castro, Mao Tse Sung, John Fitzeral Kenedy, Yasser Arafat , Nelson Mandela and many other great leaders of the world have had written their own history in politics. So our generations of today need learn and just be considerate that all of the issues you complain about too much won't become a reality by the press of a button. There is no magic solution. It takes time to happen and only time will tell, whether you walk, run, or crawl you will still arrive to your point of destination only at your own timing. Thus life is a journey and in politics our leaders live their time and have come a long way to bring the nation of Papua New Guinea to where it is today. PANGU emerged from a small group of elite members of bully beef club who gave birth to this nation and accelerated its first leg of independence. Grand Chief Somare remains a living testimony today to bear witness to his leadership which he tactfully constructed our nation from pennies to the billions of Kinas which the young guns are counting on every toeas and fighting over it. While at the same time , young generation who passed out from schools are on facebook criticizing our leaders without reasoning and understanding the kind of journey your fathers have walked the hardyards to raise this nation . Let us pay a moment to compare from the two great leader of Past and present. The father of our great nation did his best to being our people of Papua New Guinea over the last 40 years in active politics until then the 8th Prime Minister Peter Oneil CMG,MP took over and did him honour to developing this nation to an unprecedented level compared to none of his predecessors which we all can not deny. Regardless of radicules, and hot gossips against borrowings, debts, inflation, corruption and other rubbish names tags, people use to paint with fancy language in confusing the 8 million population of this country. Somare is a real Hero! He put this nation on the road of independence. Sir J is still in politics, so as Mekere, Wingty and Rabbie although out of active politics, he is passively watching while you boys are mumbling and grumbling over the tussle of leadership. I am not afraid to say that O'NEIL belongs to a league of new era in PNG politics. He has also set the benchmark that none will beat. He rose to the pinnacle of politics after almost 40 years of dwelling in the wilderness eversince we got independence independence. We can not deny that O'neil did his great effort by helping Somare to reconstruct and rebuild this nation after he left by especially setting a new road map for this nation going forward. Our young leaders of today need to learn from such great experiences displayed so far and move forward instead of digging into the graveyards by exposing and exhuming the bones and maggots that is of no interest to national unity and development. We should all move on and try to set our Hallmark for our future generation to learn. Why should we nag and complain too much about others achievements and success story. Move on! Fellow citizens. I shall conclude to say that, PNC has a long history to live on, we will pass but our legacies will be around for our future generation. Hence the infrastructure development that nation is witnessing and continue to propel under Marabe - Steven Government are hallmarks of the new era of PNC- (The Peoples National Congress) - policies still at work. PNC will be around in politics and I hope our children will come to learn and appreciate our leadership in politics of Papua New Guinea in the years to come when we meet the MTDS 2030 and VISION 2050. We should let the people of our great nation to judge us by our performance in politics. Meanwhile we remain as humble for our people.
