By Sonja Barry Ramoi What will the first part of this new decade - the 2020’s - bring for Papua New Guinea? Lots more politicking by politicians ‘living and talking on Fb’, whilst people are suffering? Is it still officially the Marape Steven Government, or is it now the Marape Kua Government fast on the way to becoming the Kua Kramer Facebook led Government of PNG? Standard practice since Independence has been for the National Executive Council (or the PM as the head of the National Executive Government) to approve the statements of Ministers for release to the public. This seems to have gone out the window under the Marape Steven Kua Government. By making certain claims in his latest fallacious (untrue) Facebook post about former Prime Minister Peter O’Neill headed ‘WILL O’NEILL RETURN AS PRIME MINISTER?’, it seems that Prime Minister James Marape’s Police Minister Bryan Kramer has a vested interest in wanting people to believe that there will NOT be another change of Government before 2022. BECAUSE it is highly unlikely that there will not be another change of Government before 2022 in preparation for the National General Elections. Did the Prime Minister approve its publication and other publications by his Police Minister? Kramer, recently dubbed ‘Bryan Facebook Kramer’, has copped lots of criticism over his post. Many people have claimed that Kramer is ‘scared’...that O’Neill is going to come back as Prime Minister. People have bluntly told him to take down or remove his post. He has been told to shut up. But how many people noticed that Kramer could not even get the date of Marape’s election as PM correct? Kramer wrongly claimed: “Marape was appointed Prime Minister on 28th May 2019, therefore 18 month grace period expires on 28th November 2020.” “So from now up until the 28th November 2020, Prime Minister Marape is safe from facing a vote of no confidence.” “While the anniversary of the 18 month grace period expires on 28th November 2020, to move a vote of no confidence, Parliament must be in session.” Etc... James Marape was elected Prime Minister on the 30th of May 2019. Is a change of Government on the cards in 2020 for PNG? The SHORT answer is: PROBABLY If not in 2020 then in 2021 before the next National General Election MOST PROBABLY there will be another election held for the PM’s post. In our view the Opposition Leader Belden Namah’s case challenging the constitutionality of James Marape’s election as PM has merit because James Marape was not elected in strict accordance with the Standing Orders of Parliament. The case returns to court on January 13th, ‘for directions to get a full court hearing date’, after the Opposition Leaders lawyer Greg Sheppard ‘pushed that everything could be done on 1 day’. ‘If standing is given the case will continue to a full hearing.’ Kramer – the self-proclaimed political analyst - seems to have also forgotten that O’Neill did what he promised to do by providing the numbers, which resulted in Marape’s landslide victory. It was not Bryan Kramer - who did not even vote for James Marape in the parliamentary election for a PM - who made James Marape the PM. It was not Kerenga Kua - who did not even vote for James Marape in the parliamentary election for a PM - who made James Marape the PM. But they were made Ministers. Why? Are they both smarter than others in Parliament who voted for James Marape? Smart enough to manoeuvre their way in to try and take over the PM’s post when the timing is right by piggy backing on the numbers in PANGU Party? Is it Take Back PNG or is it going to be TAKE BACK THE PM’S POST AGAIN?? Among other things, Kua has been accused of ‘plugging off TOTAL and causing economic recession’. Among other things, Kramer is a psychopathic liar who last year was supporting murder and was inciting violence against O’Neill when O’Neill was PM, and against me personally. The evidence is on camera, some of which has already been provided by me to the police. One political insider commented about Kramer: There is a lot of lawlessness in the country. Is Marape scared to decommission him? Kramer and his Facebook followers may like to take credit for helping to influence PNG Social Media users to withdraw their support for O’Neill, by constantly using social media as a weapon - over a period of several years - to post defamatory and damaging rubbish against the then Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill and his supporters and his party PNC. Kramer may take credit in influencing Members of Parliament – during the lobbying for a Vote of No Confidence – into believing that O’Neill is an Australian citizen. But how many MP’s were convinced that Kramer is correct or was telling the truth about O’Neill’s citizenship? How many MP’s have checked the laws of both PNG and Australia relating to dual citizenship and know without a doubt - as per the laws of both countries - and by virtue of O’Neill’s place and date of birth and his ancestry - that Peter O’Neill was not a citizen of Australia, and even if he were a dual citizen that would NOT make him ineligible to hold public office in PNG. In fact: Bryan Kramer blatantly LIED about the then Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s citizenship status. But who helped him to mislead other MP’s and the whole country (not to mention the rest of the world through international mainstream media) about the then PM’s citizenship status? We strongly suspect his suspected mole (allegedly his mistress at the Australian High Commission) had a hand in it. We strongly suspect foreign political interference, actually! Kramer wrongly claimed: “Before the change of Government, PNC were 46 Members strong only to be reduced to just 15 Members following O'Neill's resignation.” Officially PNC Party now has 18. Not 15 as wrongly claimed by Kramer. So why lie about it? Well it seems that a large number of MP’s (reportedly more than 14) have been in talks with PNC to go back to PNC, and maybe that is why Kramer claimed: “there have been whispers in the corridors of Waigani and among certain members of the business community that strong [sic] believe Peter O’Neill will be returned as Prime Minister.” If O’Neill had not withdrawn his nomination as PM he probably still would have won, because he still had the support of 45 members (not 46 as claimed by Kramer). On the 28th of May – two days after verbally announcing his intention to resign as PM – O’Neill had 45. James Marape had only 28, Patrick Pruaitch 37. Sir Mekere Morauta ended up scoring only 8. Not too many members of the public would be aware that prior to the then Oppositions secret ballot being held between Marape and Pruaitch at the Laguna camp in which Marape scored 28 and Pruaitch scored 37, there was reportedly a “trial run” at the Laguna camp between Kua and Pruaitch for the Oppositions nominee to contest the Prime Ministership. A member of the media advised that Kua got 36 whilst Pruaitch got 24. Former Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare reportedly intervened calling on Kua to let Pruaitch as the then Opposition Leader to be the Oppositions nominee for the PM’s post. It seems that the reported “trial run” between Kua and Pruaitch was a major contributing reason for Marape’s departure later to the Crowne Plaza camp with his supporters after Marape lost again to Pruaitch. In fact, Marape did not have the numbers to become PM. It was through O’Neill’s support (withdrawal), that Marape ended up getting 101 votes to be elected the 8th Prime Minister of PNG. So why did O’Neill withdraw his nomination, although he was repeatedly advised to allow there to be 3 nominees, when he had 45? The answer is simple. He needed a good break. After working tirelessly for nearly 8 years as Prime Minister delivering tangible change for the country O’Neill had no intention of being in a three-way contest for the Prime Minister’s post. Although we know that O’Neill is happy to see them all at the polls in 2022, people want him back in power as PM before then, as they can foresee more problems occurring around the country. Papua New Guineans gave the mandate to Peter O’Neill and PNC through the polls - not to piggy backing PANGU Party - to run the country, and will do so again if need be. Don’t you worry Bryan Kramer. Noken poret. You will still get what is coming and what you so rightfully deserve.
