By Noel Anjo Commission of Inquiries and Public Accounts Committee Inquiries does not have prosecution powers to prosecute MPs and others who misuse funds or break laws but makes recommendations only. Inquiries after Inquiries since PNG got Independence in 1975 up to today, no recommendations from those inquiries were implemented, no one was prosecuted and corrupt people walked away free with millions of kina. For the pending commission of Inquiry on UBS Saga and Public Accounts Committee's Inquiries on Health Department and others, nobody will be prosecuted by these Inquiries.
There are MPs, Departmental Heads, Consultants and their cronies are implicated in these dealings or allegations. Therefore some cunning advisers are advising the Marape Steven government to set up these Inquiries just to please the eyes of 8million people of PNG and deviate from the truth. Where is the Police Minister, Bryan Kramer's position on this??? When Kramer was a ordinary person, he was very vocal on these issues or allegations. Today he is occupying the right Ministry and very silent on these issues. Recently former PM Peter O'Neill was not arrested from any commission of Inquiries or recommendations by any Inquiries. O'Neill was arrested by National Fraud & Anti corruption Directorate acting on a formal complaint lodged by Belden Namah. My simple advice to the Marape Steven government is this. ADVICE: Pending Inquiries such as UBS saga, Health Department and others, task and fund National Fraud & Anti corruption Directorate to investigate and prosecute the law breakers if you are really serious about taking back PNG from corruption.
