Commentary By Petrus GAND Our land has been proclaimed by the Germans and the British as an independent protectorate state of Papua and New Guinea respectively during the flag raising ceremony held at the Port Moresby colonial Administrative centre in 1884. The Northern part of the Island of New Guinea was undoubtedly administered by a German business entity similar to STOP AND SHOP called the German New Guinea Company. The company's administration lasted a period of five years in our homeland. In fact, the company’s potential motive was to intentionally utilise our untouched, but yet fertile soil by manipulating our ancestors into producing an adequate amount of copra, cocoa, sugar and other natural commodities to meet its rapid demands. The entity’s goals and ambitions became obsolete which forced the company to hand over the administration to the German government in 1888. Simultaneously, the British-Papua was abandoned in cruel deprivation of human rights. Women and girls were violated on a regular basis to expose or uncover the upper part of their waist while males were forbidden to enter the administrative centres unless they were granted a passage pass from a colonial authority and so forth. The substance I want to stress at depth is a common group of people distinguished from others on the basis of their common physical characteristics, such as skin colour or hair texture. It is known that the white race, also known as the SUPREMACIST, had systematically moulded our reasoning capability to perceive them as a race of greater or better than average race/rank/being/creature/substance/power etc. (They are excessively influencing us at an enormous scale in this world of media and technology.)
Eventually, the British-Papua was handed to Australia in 1906 after gaining independence from their British colonizer in 1901. Then the Northern part of New Guinea was seized by the Australians when the First World War erupted in 1914 and the Japanese attacked the German-New Guinea's base in Rabaul in 1917. Meanwhile the Australia New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU) was established under the United Nations affirmation in 1922 and lived through the Second World War under the administration of Australia. With the merged administration, the Australians took ultimate control over and beneath our soil and waters to nourish their infant state. Many of our forefathers had lost their lives during the war while a few were recognised and were honoured as the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels. Miserably, some were misplaced and lived off our soil for generations. Regardless of the misdeeds encountered by the natives, the whites enjoyed their lives by utilising our resources for their welfare while labelling our ancestors as mere puppets. They perceived our forefathers as easy to tame and control so in most instances they were used as slaves. Thus they played a delaying strategy to prolong our self governance while upholding an inept ambition and misled us. They claimed they wanted our indigenous ancestors to learn and eventually understand the modern civilization in order to govern themselves. But it wasn’t eventuated when the UN Representative Sir Huge Foot drafted a recommendation to fast track our administrative system and prepare us for independence after his return from our land in 1945. He was concerned because he noticed that the miserable indigenous Melanesians were deprived and exploited while being dragged to a war that had been solely fought for conflict of interests by the rivalries which would never benefit the natives on the land if they weren’t colonised. After all that is done to us because of our biological differences and civilization phase, we perpetually condone their past actions because we understand that they had volunteered by sacrificing their efforts in shedding some glimpse of civilization unto our thick indigenous skull. We appreciate the whites with dignity and loyalty despite discerningly considering our past. What is gone cannot be taken. Our perception of the whites as superiors would never fade because they had gradually installed the way we would perceive them through a systematic approach. By reflecting on our prehistory it seemed 45 years of recognition of our sovereignty as an independent state in international diplomacy is way too much. It is time we should feel for ourselves and initiate innovative measures for the common good of our people. Do what is right for us as natives of the land we set foot on. There will never be another time as the values of all our natural resources are depreciating annually. Just a Thought to consider when dealing with a white racist. Happy-BORN Day inhabitants of the richest black nation in the Southern hemisphere. Next : Madang Governor Yama, Others Face Arrest Comments are closed.
