The voice of Melanesia sit-in-Protest at the Unagi Oval which started on the 21st of October officially ended today.
Chairman, Newman Freeman said the aim of the sit-in protest march was for the Prime Minister to come and receive a proposal for a new system of Government which they claim is suitable for PNG. He said the purpose of this sit in protest is to demonstrate frustration at the Honourable Office of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea in the failure of its official duty to make formal response to four different official invitation letters. He said the letters where to invite the Prime Minister to present a 20 page people’s petition calling and demanding for economic and systematic independence for Papua New Guinea after 39 years of independence. After having not received any response from the Government, Freeman said that the organisation will have a nationwide sit in protest involving their members throughout Papua New Guinea on December 26.
