Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill thanked and farewelled the outgoing Indonesian Ambassador, H. E. Andrias Sitepu yesterday.
This was during a farewell call by the Ambassador on the Prime Minister, at his Parliament office in Port Moresby. In their opening discussions, Mr Sitepu thanked Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill for his ongoing co-operation and support in his three-year tenure. “During my time here, I have realized the private and public sectors’ confidence in this Government, more particularly your vision to develop Papua New Guinea,” Mr Sitepu said. In response, Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill commended and thanked Mr Sitepu for his outstanding performance during his tenure in the country. “I would also like to thank you for your undivided support during my visit to Jakarta recently for the inauguration of your new President, where I also had the opportunity to successfully meet with the Indonesian President Joko Widodo before returning to PNG,” Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said. He gave assurance that he would continue to work closely with his predecessor to further enhance both countries already robust relations. The Prime Minister also reiterated PNG’s appreciation towards the Indonesian Government for its continued assistance in areas of mutual benefits. He further extended his applause to Mr Sitepu and wished him good health and a safe trip home. Mr Sitepu returns to Indonesian this weekend.
