Political Parties have been urged to comply with the laws and legislation that governs their functions in the political arena.
This is to strengthen parties, understand its roles and fostering a working relation amongst themselves under the new organic law on the integrity of political parties and candidates. Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates Dr Alphonse Gelu says they are now trying to link members of parliament with their non parliamentary executives which are the party officials. He says this is a critical need that must be addressed to strengthen political parties in PNG so that they adhere to the legislation, guiding the political parties. Dr Gelu says it's also important that they work closely with party officials so that they develop their skills and allow them to be become more intact with matters that are of mutual concerns both to the parties and the office the Political Registrar.
