The Papua New Guinea's East Sepik Provincial Police Commander has issued a warning to the people of East Sepik not to trade in illegal guns and drugs. Superintendent Christopher Tamari says if caught, the penalties are harsh and now include life imprisonment. PPC Tamari issued the warning after two suspects who allegedly had in their possession a huge quantity of marijuana and guns were arrested by police last Friday. The illegal drugs and guns were found by police in a dawn raid at Musingwik village in Ambunti/ Drekikir District.
The drugs were neatly packed and believed to be ready for transportation to Vanimo and then to Jayapura in Indonesia also included two homemade guns and others. PPC PPC Tamari says the suspects will be charged under the amended Drug and Firearms Acts, for which the penalties are very high. NBC News / PNGfacts Photos supplied Also read Comments are closed.
