Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, arrived in Honiara today, for the 20th Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders’ Summit.
Mr. O'Neill said, he's expressed his concerns in relation to the protection of life and the preservation of communities for West Papuans in Indonesia. He said, all parties to the M-S-G discussions appeared to have arrived with the similar outlook - a shared perspective that they need to have clear and open dialogue, in order to advance these issues. Another issue to be discussed include expanding connectivity through increased transportation linkages between M-S-G countries. Leaders are also looking at ways to further increase M-S-G engagement on social, cultural and environmental issues. Mr. O'Neill is expected to open the Papua New Guinea Chancery in Honiara tomorrow, followed by the presentation of 20 million Kina grant-in-aid.
