Papua New Guinea Chief Police boss Gary Baki has suspended assistant Police Commissioner Thomas Eluh after he failed to follow orders.
Mr Baki said that Mr Eluh was suspended after he refused to be moved to head the New Guinea Islands region (NGI) as Assistant Commissioner. Commissioner Baki said he had issued instructions in a briefing after he took office, made changes including transfers of certain officers but Mr Eluh has not moved. He said Mr Eluh has been transferred as the Assistant Commissioner NGI, he hasn’t moved since I directed him," Mr Baki said. "He has disobeyed my instructions and this is an internal administrative matter and when you are an assistant commissioner and refuse to take orders from the Commissioner to transfer or to move, the only option for you is to be discipline so he has been suspended," Baki added. Mr Eluh has been a controversial figure in the police hierarchy in which he has been suspended several times already. Mr. Eluh has been vocal on many issues including the arrest of Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, Payment of K71 million Paraka Lawyers .
