An investigation will be carried out into non-performing Provincial Health Authorities (PHAs) in Papua New Guinea. The country's Health Minister Dr. Lino Tom issued this warning in an interview with NBC News. He said he has started already with the Enga Provincial Health Authority and will continue with others if they've not performed to expectations. Dr. Lino Tom said the PHA system itself is working but needs competent people with management skills to run it. "We need to get competent people. People with management skills in place in charge of PHA's."
"PHA's are working well. We can't change the systems that are working to suit personalities. We have to get the right people to be in charge of the PHA's." "There are some PHA's that are not working well. For example, I've started and I've started back in Enga. We actually sending in an investigation team to look into it and I think the Board has actually taken some measures and suspended the CEO." "We are starting with one PHA and we will move on to other PHA's that are not working," said Dr. Lino Tom. NBC News / pngfacts Next : PNG PM Marape Calls On Taris To Return Home Comments are closed.
