The Papua New Guinea Minister for Internal Security and Bougainville Regional Member Peter Tsiamalili Junior said the National Government is aware of lawlessness affecting the country and is taking a holistic approach to address it. He said the recent recruitment drive for more policemen and women nationwide is among his ministerial plans. The Internal Security Minister told Parliament yesterday that PNG has 22 provinces with different issues, however, concerns raised by respective political leaders all relate, and the onus is on Ward Councilors to address this through bottom up planning. "The concepts are the same. And it actually comes down to your councilors lo council level or ward level na yu identify ol challenges igat lon em. "And than you have your PPC, who will do up what we call an operational plan to your ACP's who will than provide those plans to the headquarters so we know how they are addressing it.
"At the provincial level and at the national level, we are to ensure that your getting the appropriate support," Mr. Tsiamalili Junior said. The Internal Security Minister explains that to be more transparent and precise, a memo was sent to all political leaders on the financial draw down for each province this year. Mr. Tsiamalili Junior said this was to keep track of how the headquarter was delivering its finances and resources to respective districts and provinces for capacity support.
