NCD governor Powers Parkop has called on all settlers in state land in the city to cooperate with NCDC for them to have settlers properly with legal titles in the city.
He said this in light of the city’s development trend where NCDC will have to relocate people on state land somewhere else to allow for development in the city. “One example is the resettle of the settlers at Paga Hill who now have permanent and legal land where forty seven people agreed to resettle at Gerehu,” Governor Parkop said. Governor Parkop made this call at the Ela Beach Hotel where a signing between NCDC and Global Construction for the reconstruction of the Sir Herbert Murray Highway with the resealing of the Scratchily Road between Badili and Manu at the Cost of K52 million. Parkop hinted that there might be consideration for resettlement between the current constructions areas if the scope of the road construction may determine to do so. “When people become hindrance to the development of the city, NCDC will not have any option but to remove illegal settlers who become hindrance to development to be removed by forceful means,” he said. The Governor also made the call to other setters in the city who do not have legal title to their land to have their legal titles registered properly as the city was developing in a rapid phase.
