VANIMO-Green MP Belden Namah is challenging in court the Leadership Tribunal’s recommendation in 2018 that he be dismissed for misconduct in office. In the National Court yesterday, Justice David Cannings directed his lawyers, Greg Sheppard and Philip Tabuchi of Young and Williams Lawyers to serve the motion to lawyers representing the Ombudsman Commission, the Public Prosecutor, and the Leadership Tribunal. Justice Cannings ordered that the motion should be heard next Wednesday. Namah’s lawyers had filed a notice of motion seeking further action against the tribunal’s recommendation on Namah handed down on April 9, 2018. Namah was automatically suspended when he was referred to the Leadership Tribunal by the Public Prosecutor for misconduct in office in October 2017. The National Court later stayed the tribunal’s recommendation. The Supreme Court confirmed last month that Namah was still suspended after he, as the Opposition Leader, challenged the appointment of James Marape as Prime Minister last year. The National Court is now hearing Namah’s challenge on the Leadership Tribunal’s decision. The National/PNGfacts Next :PNG Foreign Affairs Minister Pruaitch Suspended Comments are closed.
