Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science & Technology, Malakai Tabar is Goroka to meet with stakeholders and relevant authorities with regards to the recent violent protest staged by University of Goroka students on UOG campus.
Minister Tabar met with the school management this morning and also had a dialogue with the provincial police commander as well as the Governor for the province to come up with a way forward on how to handle the situation and look at the best way forward for the institution following the recent violent clash that left more than 4 students seriously injured with gun shot wounds. According to Prof. Joseph Sukwianomb who is part of the delegation that travelled together with the minister to Goroka today, after the meeting and consultation with relevant stakeholders today the Minister has established and Arbitration Panel to deal with this situation. Sukwianomb also says that Minister Tabar will be addressing the UOG student body tomorrow at the campus, but the school with not seize from its operation it will still operate pending investigation and reports collected from the arbitration panel.
