The country’s standard of Education has dropped and it all goes back to how students are taught in elementary schools. This was raised in parliament yesterday by member for Maprik John Simon after sighting posts by university students on Facebook which he described as “broken English and not from educated people”. Simon called on the Minster for Education Nick Kuman to review the Elementary level of Education including the teachers and the curriculum taught at that level. “There are some teachers who just came out from grade 10 and they are already teaching without going through any proper training and how do you expect someone like that to open up a child’s brain and understand the basics of education” said Mr Simon. The member said the Elementary level of Education is the core foundation of a child’s education all throughout his or her life and the Education Department must make sure that qualified teachers teach at Elementary schools.
