The Government of Japan has invested more than K50-million funding a total of 290 projects throughout Papua New Guinea . Japanese Ambassador, Nobuyuki Watanabe, made this known during a three-day visit to Enga Province recently to inspect some of its projects. Japan’s Ambassador, his delegation, and members of the media were in Wabag, Enga Province recently, to see first-hand some of the projects, funded by the Japanese Government, under its Grassroots Grant Projects. These included a four-in-one classroom at Wabag Primary School, two bridges in Tsak Valley, Wapenamanda, an ambulance for the Immanuel Lutheran Rural Hospitals, and medical supplies for the health centers. In addition, Japan has also supported the development, production, and distribution of textbooks as well as teaching materials.
During the visit, Ambassador Watanabe told the people that his government is pleased to support projects in education, health, and infrastructure, totaling K54.6 million since January, this year. The Ambassador hopes that through these projects, PNG and Japan can further deepen their bilateral ties. Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas said it is through a partnership that a province can progress and thanked the Government of Japan and its people for their contribution towards the development of his province and the country.
