PNG OPPOSITION leader Belden Namah has urged Prime Minister James Marape to live up to the promises he has made to resource landowners. In a statement yesterday, he pointed out Mr Marape’s bold promise in the infancy of his tenure of creating 100 millionaires, calling him to “honour or shut up”. “How can the average Papua New Guinean believe Mr Marape if he has not created any millionaires so far?” Mr Namah said. He referred to the Prime Minister’s alleged reasons for leaving the O’Neill government as being his dissatisfaction with the former Prime Minister for not honoring landowner commitments arising from the PNG LNG project, with the Croton Equity and Infrastructure Development Grant as an example.
“More than two years later they are still waiting and are frustrated at the man they call Prime Minister,” Mr Namah said. “We only hear about Porgera landowners. “What about the project-affected landowners from Hela, especially those Hides landowners and his own Tari-Pori electorate, which host the power pylons providing electricity to Porgera 24/7. “Promise after promise have been made over the last two years but not a single project nor monies owed have been delivered by the State as per agreements. “The litany of lies continues wherever he goes, including at the UN – at the world forum.” Statement / Post Courier/ PNGfacts Next : PNG COVID-19 Controller Bans Gatherings Of 20-Plus Persons Comments are closed.
