An elderly man charged for sexually touching a 14 year old girl in Port Moresby. The man from Central was alleged to have touched the girl’s virgina and inner thigh at Tokarara in Port Moresby, last Wednesday.
The Waigani Committal Court granted him a K500 bail. Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Cosmas Bidar said the bail conditions were that he should not interfere with the witnesses, especially the victim, and to stay in Tokarara all the time until his case concluded. Meanwhile, a Southern Highlands man charged with sexual penetration and touching a girl aged eight at 9-Mile, Port Moresby, last month, also appeared in court. David Makape, from Koroba, Hela, was alleged to have sexually penetrated the girl. The court refused to grant Makape’s bail as he had no formal address and had lived in the city for only five years. Bidar said the court was not sure if he could come to court when on bail. Magistrate Bidar was concerned that sexual penetration cases involving young girls and close relatives are prevalent. “These are not among strangers but family members,” Bidar said.“I do not know what is wrong with our society today.”
