Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape says the government is in discussion with their Australian counterpart to have the first COVID-19 positive case patient for PNG evacuated to Australia. Papua New Guinea Prime Minister says all contacts made by COVID-19 patient will be tested. Mr Marape says he has shown signs of recovery however they will not evacuate him as yet until they get all the information needed from him to ensure all persons he had come in contact with is revealed so that they are traced and tested. The Prime Minister says the ten people, including the pilot that airlifted him from Nadzab to the mine site, have already been quarantined with tests run on them and once results are ready it will be made public. Officials including health, police and the PNG Defence Force are now working to zero down on all other persons who have come in contact with him including the passengers he travelled with to Lae in the domestic flight so that they too be tested to prevent at all cost the spread of the virus. Meantime, the Prime Minister says beginning today those working at Jacksons airport, both at the domestic and international will be tested to give comfort to residents in the nation’s capital.
