![]() A senior health officer has come out identifying areas in Port MOresby where the coronavirus cases have been identified. PNG Director Public Health with the Health Department and recently appointed Incident Manager at the National Control Center, Dr. Daoni Esorom, said people must be aware of these places and take protective measures. He said from the confirmed cases as of mid-last week, the highest of eight cases were detected at:
Dr. Esorom says 86 percent were mild cases and 14 percent are moderate to severe but all are doing well under the care of doctors and are expected to be discharged soon. He said the doctors put the severe cases on steroids and high antibiotics and they improved. He adds, most are between the ages of 16 and 30, and the rest between the ages of 31 and 60 with 55% men and 45 % women. Dr. Esorom said they presented common symptoms of cough, high fever, shortness of breath, and sore throat. But he said a peculiar and increasing symptom in COVID-19 cases in Port Moresby was the accompanying headache as well. Dr. Esorom was speaking on NBC's COVID-19 talkback program on Friday.
