The National Court has ordered police NOT to arrest Prime Minister Peter O'Neill until the court determines his application to stay his warrant of arrest.
Justice Ere Kariko also ordered that newly appointed Police Commissioner, Geoffrey Vaki, not to take any actions issuing instructions or obstruct the proceedings. Mr. O'Neill had joined a proceeding instituted by Finance Minister James Marape for the court to determine the legality of over 71 million Kina paid to Paul Paraka law firm. Under this proceeding, he's asking the court for a stay order, to stop his arrest and that of Mr Marape, until the court and relevant government departments clarify the payments. The matter has been adjourned to tomorrow morning. Comments are closed.
