The National Court in Waigani has ordered a recount of ballots into the Kandep Open Seat in Enga Province. Justice Colin Makail handed down the decision today. This follows an election petition filed by the former MP and now petitioner, Don Polye, challenging the 2017 National Election win of incumbent Member, Alfred Manase. Mr Polye in his petition had raised allegations errors and omissions committed during the conduct of the election in the province. He wants the Electoral Commission to ensure the recount takes place immediately. Mr Polye is also preferring Wabag Town as the neutral recount venue.
