A man of Asian origin was arrested and charged in West New Britain, for not observing the Easter holiday. The man identified as Chen Yu, was arrested for operating his business at Morokea Town, during the public holiday. Provincial Police Commander, Jim Namora, says the case is a wake up call to the many others who do not respect public holidays in the country. While arresting Chen Yu, police also stumbled on two other Asian men who had no permits to be working in the country. Police found that the two men came to West New Britain to work in logging camps, but deserted their jobs and were working for Chen Yu. The two men and their wives have appeared before the Kimbe District Court and were each released on a 1-thousand Kina bail. They will return to court on April 15th. PPC Namora is calling on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Immigration to toughen up its issuance of passports and work permits to foreigners. NBC News
