Six vehicles were gifted to the PNG's Port Moresby Criminal Investigation Division by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). Each vehicle was gifted to Motor Squad responsible for dealing with Stolen Motors vehicles and syndicates, Break In Sqaud responsible for dealing with with Break and Enter Stealing, the General Sqaud, NCD Fraud Squad, Sexual Offences Squad and the Forensic Science Scene of Crime squad. Mission Commander Assistant Commissioner Amanda Kates and her senior officers were at Boroko Police Station to officially hand over the vehicles to NCD/ Central Divisional Commander ACP Anthony Wagambie Jr. While receiving the vehicles, ACP Wagambie said it would go a long way in assisting the CID in carrying out their investigations into serious crimes such as Murder, Break and Enter Stealing, Car Thefts, Sexual Offences and other serious Indictable offences.
The Commander met the CID personnel after the presentation of vehicles and challenged them to look after the vehicles properly and use them for their intended purpose. ACP Wagambie told them the vehicles will enhance their mobility and the Constabulary management expects all to improve in their performances. Assistant Commissioner in charge of Crimes Division at Police Headquarters ACP Hodges Ette who was also present, echoed the same sentiments to the CID members. Wagambie Junior is greatful for the assistance given saying police need criminal cases to be investigated well, court files prepared and prosecuted.
