Five Indonesian men held at the Vanimo Police Station in West Sepik, distracted their guards by singing hymns, while cutting the aluminium iron rod in their cell, to make way for their escape, on Saturday.
The five were fined one-thousand Kina each, by the Vanimo District Court, in default three months in jail on Friday. They were charged for illegally entering Papua New Guinea. Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Gesa, says the five were among 12 men who escaped from their cells. Superintendent Gesa says, the seven local remandees, were locked up for various offences, such as unlawful assault and being in possession of illicit spirits. Comments are closed.
