Calvin Caspar Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, says the Government is ready to support the Papua New Guinea Kumuls for Rugby League World Cup next year. Mr O'Neill gave this assurance after a stunning performance by the PNG Prime Minister's 13 team against the mighty Australians on Sunday. The Prime Minister, who watched the match at the Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby, says the performance by the PNG team on the field demonstrates a marked improvement and the capability of winning in the future. Mr O'Neill assured that his government will be behind the national Kumuls team, to ensure the team is well prepared for the World Cup which will be hosted by England and Wales. He also witnessed in person how enthusiastic Papua New Guineans are about rugby league. He's talked with relevant ministers and NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, to immediately look into those areas needing attention such as urgent renovation and upgrading of the facilities to cater for more league fans.
