By Sylvester Gawi Well it's been a hectic week since I arrived in Port Moresby from Lae and Wewak last week. As a staff member of our good Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, I've been reluctant a bit to publish certain details and information and only assisted to get my mainstream media colleagues to do the filming and writing. Alot has been said from the outside on what sort of elected leaders that are camping at Loloata island to form the next government of our beloved nation - Papua New Guinea. Everyone has been talking about people with questionable backgrounds and characters being elected into parliament - that power solely rests with respective constituents. Many of you knew names like Marape, Duma, O'Neill, Maru and others who are potential Prime Minister candidates. They are party leaders and the one with the biggest number of elected members will get the invitation to form government. That's quantity over quality.
But one thing alot of our people don't know is the quality of leaders we have in camp at both Loloata and Kokopo. Some are first timers in politics, some were re elected while others made their return into politics. From the Loloata perspective we have people like; Michael Marum - a successful sporting icon in PNG, someone who is disciplined and patriotic. His style of leadership and management and his contributions to sports and charity has lifted the spirit of many Papua New Guineans despite our setbacks and shortfalls as a nation. Dr Tom Lino - a calm and collective mind. Someone who served his people in the medical field and has delivered road infrastructures to marginalised people in his first term as an MP. Alan Bird - his passion and vision to support his people in agriculture and economic empowerment is second to none. John Rosso - I can't be biased.. LoL 😂 He's a smart and strategic politician. Always loyal to his people and the government. Kobby Bomareo - built several roads connecting remote isolated regions of his electorate. Someone who is passionate to deliver for the people. Pila Niningi - perseverance and hardwork is what defines Niningi. Delivered alot for his Imbongu people in his first term. Solan Morison - he always rise above the odds leading one of the most remotest districts in PNG - Telefomin. Soroi Eoi - a silent achiever for his people of Kikori. Thomas Opa - Someone who has strong leadership qualities that I see as a beacon of hope for Kerema. Never been there, but there's 600 ways to get there - You no save, you yet kam na lukim. Justin Thatchenko - You won't like this guy because of the hot cakes not selling faster than expected, but stuck one has made it happen for Moresby South and yes he will still deliver. Rainbo Paita - Young, energetic and always on top of every development agenda in his district. He has done it and will continue to deliver. Richard Masere - He deserves the return to parliament. He has done well. Jason Peter - this guy barely talks, but his actions do the work. A good listener and an observer. Richard Maru - this Mande never disappoints in terms of service delivery. He had done it for ten years and now being party leader, he brings with him a formidable team. Gary Juffa - the founder of #TakeBackPNG and a straight shooter in PNG politics. He needs no introduction. I can go on and on but these are few of the many good men that are part of the camp at Loloata. There are many others who are successful businessman, philanthropists, former public servants etc. People who are mandated by their people in their communities and villages. It's not always about the quantity but the quality of leaders that this election has produced. Evil prevails when good men do nothing. THIS IS WHAT THE MEDIA SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO WRITE ABOUT. THE SAME NUMBERS AND REACTIONS IS NOT HELPING OUR PEOPLE.
