Police Commissioner, Geoffrey Vaki has directed that disciplinary action be taken against members of the Special Services Division, within the Constabulary.
He's directed that the S-S-D members, pictured in uniform with alcohol, in one of the daily newspapers, be identified and suspended from duty. Furthermore, that they be served Serious Disciplinary Offence Report and immediately transferred out of the Division. Mr. Vaki's direction to acting Deputy Commissioner Operations, Jim Andrews, states that these actions be taken today. The Police Commissioner says, it appears that Director S-S-D is lenient on ill-discipline by his members nationwide, despite his earlier directive, for all Commanders, Provincial Police Commanders and the two Metropolitan Superintendents in Lae and Port Moresby, to address ethical, dress and grooming standards as well as discipline. Mr. Vaki says, he's passionate about discipline and will hold all commissioned and non-commissioned officers, accountable for their subordinate's actions.
