Prime Minister Peter O’Neill will join Police Commissioner Geoffery Vaki as the second Plaintiff in the bid to seek Judicial Review on the District Court decision that issued O’Neill’s arrest warrant.
This was made known to the National Court this afternoon, after Judge Les Gavara-Nanu in the morning, told parties involved in the application that O’Neill was the one to be affected by the warrant and not Vaki. Gavara-Nanu said O’Neill will have to file new submissions tomorrow regarding his move from being a defendant as named by Vaki, to being a plaintiff. Parties will appear in court tomorrow to submit the amended application. The matter will then go to the Supreme Court to determine first the constitutionality of the Police Commissioner going against the warrant obtained by members within the police force.
