The former Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, Sir Julius Chan, has joined the Opposition ahead of Friday's Parliamentary vote of no confidence in the Government.Sir Julius, the MP for New Ireland, was the third former Prime Minister to announce he'd cross the floor for the vote including Sir Michael Somare and Paias Wingti. The Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, said he welcomes the move by Sir Julius as the challenges that face PNG were different from in the past. He said the government needed the next generation of leaders, who were aware of global markets and were schooled in global politics. Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader, Don Polye had accused the Prime Minister of using taxpayer funds to fly the Government to Alotau. Mr Polye said that the Alotau camp, where 57 MPs were reported to have gathered, was costing the state owned Mineral Resources Development Company 20 million US dollars and the Finance department 35 million dollars.
