Sexual harassment of health workers, patients and guardians at the Bogia District Hospital has forced health authorities in Madang, to scale-down services at the health facility.
Provincial Health Director, Marcus Kachau says, the situation at Bogia is beyond what a normal human being can comprehend. Mr Kachau says details of these incidences are gross. In one incident, a woman was molested by an intruder, after she had just given birth and was resting in the ante-natal ward. In another incident, a female health worker was chased while on night duty, because she did not give in to sexual favours of a prowler, while a guardian was raped in yet another incident. A local leader Joe Viaken, complained this week, that the move by the provincial authority, is unnecessarily putting people's lives at risk. Comments are closed.
