One of the pilot who died in the Hevilift plane crash is a female Papua New Guinean. Her counterpart is from Australia. They both died after the plane they were flying crashed on a mountain just few kilometers from Port Moresby.
The Twin Otter Plane belonging to Hevilift was carrying seven passengers and was travelling from Woitape in the Goilala District to Port Moresby when it crashed on a mountain at Laloki outside Port Moresby. From the nine on board one passenger and the two pilots were killed instantly while the other six passengers were saved by PNG Defence Force and New Zealand Defence personnel who were conducting a joint training exercise at Goldie Barracks just below the mountain. According to the soldiers who didn’t want to be identified, they were carrying out their training in the bushes under the mountain when they heard a loud bang at around 9.30am. One of the survivor of the plane crash died this morning at the Port Moresby general hospital. The identities of the deceased have been held back including the others who sustained injuries and are now at the Port Moresby General Hospital. Comments are closed.
