Opposition leader Belden Namah is urging the civil society, churches, and anti-corruption agencies to call for the resignation and arrest of the Prime Minister Peter O’Neil.
Namah made the comments in a media conference today, when condemning the Task Force Sweep Team and Sam Koim for announcing that they do not have a case to pursue against the prime minister following their findings in the on-going investigation into Paraka Lawyers. Namah said this is a clear perversion of the course of justice and an indication of bias in favour of the prime minister. “O’Neils deception and ruthlessness has now evidently emerged and we must all now fight to bring him to justice,” said Namah. “If people of this country have previously been hesitant over this issue, they have no reason too any longer.” Namah has called on Trade Unions, public servants, politicians on both sides of the house, churches, anti-corruption organisations, and the public to seize the issue and call on O’Neil to resign immediately. “Everyone must call for the PM’s arrest and for him to be charged,” stated Namah. “It is clear he no doubt, in his position as minister as well, meddled in the police investigations where he was the core suspect.” On Tuesday, Koim released a media statement stating that the evidence (letter of Jan 24, 2013) implicating O’Neil is unsustainable. However, he did say that any new evidence that may come to light that involves O’Neil, they will pursue. PNG EDGE Comments are closed.
