The Minister for Higher Education, Research Science and Technology Malakai Tabar has expressed anger over an alleged school yard rape in the Central Province.
A video on the incident was posted on Facebook and shared multiple times especially by youths, until it caught the attention of many more who cared enough to demand its removal on the social media and report it to police. The alleged incident happened in early June with Central police saying, several male students were allegedly involved, but neither the school nor the girl and her parents have laid a complaint with police. The matter came to light after another student approached police. PNG Loop reports Minister Tabar as saying, the society must not allow such behaviour, further calling for the immediate arrest of the students involved. Tabar also says police must track down the female student, and the community at large must help police identify the students involved. He also says the school in question must cooperate with police investigations.
