The 5.9% increase in tariff fees to be charged by PNG Power Ltd commencing this month has not been welcomed by residents in Lae city following constant power blackouts in the city since last year.
Many said there hasn’t been consistency by PNG Power in the service they are providing and paying a higher tariff for an unreliable service is not right. Adding on to that many said despite being state owned, PNG Power has made millions of kina out from electricity consumers’ pocket but yet their services are unpredictable in major urban centres and haven’t reach most rural parts of the country. Meanwhile some said, the tariff increase must also be evidential in the services rendered by PNG Power this year and that is to provide effective and reliable power supply to their consumers Comments are closed.
