Hela Governor, Philip Undialu, is seeking permission from the Supreme Court to review the decision of the National Court which had ordered a recount into his election. In June, the national court ordered a recount into the Hela Regional Seat, following an election petition filed by Francis Potape. Early this month, Governor Undialu filed an application for leave to review the decision of the trial Judge. The matter came before Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika this morning, however, it was adjourned to August. Lawyers representing Governor Undialu, Mr Potape and the Electoral Commission agreed that the application for leave to review be heard on August 20. If leave is granted, the case will then proceed to substantive hearing of why the lower court's decision granting recount should be reviewed. NBC News Comments are closed.
