Australia has deported a Western Highlands man who attempted to enter Australia with a faked passport on September 14.
He was immediately arrested by PNG police and charged with one count of making a false declaration for the purpose of obtaining an entry permit into Australia under the PNG Immigration Act. The accused is Isaac Nagi, 23, of Kragl village Togoba in the Western highlands province. Acting Assistant Commissioner of Crimes Donald Yamasombi said Nagi was first deported on July 25, 2013 after overstaying his tourist visa and the Australian authorities banned him from entering Australia for three years. In July this year Nagi presented himself as Mr Pagl Captain Bata and applied for a birth certificate at the PNG Births registry office in Port Moresby. Using this false birth certificate, Nagi applied and was granted a new PNG passport and thereafter a new Australian visa was issued. ACP Yamasombi said Nagi purchased a ticket and travelled on Virgin Blue Airline flight VA 188 into Brisbane on September 11, 2014. Three days later, Nagi was caught by Australian Immigration officials and deported back into Port Moresby. Mr Yamasombi said Australian authorities have now permanently banned Nagi from re-entering Australia Comments are closed.
