An Australia-based refugee advocate said protest at the Manus Island detention center are continuing, despite authorities ending a stand-off in one of the camp's compounds last night.
The governments of both Australia and P-N-G have played down the extent of the protest with Foreign Ministers saying the Chief Immigration Officer managed to negotiate the blockade in Delta compound. But the Refugee Action Coalition, Ian Rintoul said guards violently stormed the compound and detained a number of people. Ian Rintoul said 58 people are now in Lorengau prison, while some detainees have been moved to an isolation unit within the detention center.
